BUDGERIGAR SOCIETY 2011
ANNUAL MEMBERS SHOW
Birds Benched: 50
of Exhibitors: 8
Judge: Janice Al-Nasser
The Rare Variety & Colour B.S. held its Annual Members Show, Seminar and A.G.M. in Loddington, Northants and it was well supported by members and guests and, for the first time, also incorporated the Annual Members Show of the Crested BC.
There were 50 rare birds benched for Janice Al-Nasser, the Societys President, to judge from 8 exhibitors, which was slightly higher than last year. The best in show went to a nice and well-presented Texas Clearbody Yellowface Skyblue cock bred by Michael & Margaret Chapman. The young bird award went to the partnership of Alan Joyce & Jim Roachs Texas Clearbody Light Green cock while Cyril & David Sharpe Partnership won the best barhead award with a Lacewing Yellow cock. Other best of variety awards went to Cyril & David Sharpe for Rainbow & Greywing; Bob Allen for Lacewing, Slate & English Fallow; Sheila Cook for German Fallow & Saddleback; David & Linda Rafis for Anthracite.

After lunch Janice Al-Nasser was the guest speaker and, with the aid of a power point presentation, she highlighted the problems associated with moving house and especially the birds. The problem that the partnership encountered while housing the birds over winter in the garage and the death of more than 100 of their best birds due to a virus. She talked about building the new birdroom and all the new equipment from breeding cages to small flights imported from Germany that they have inside the new birdroom. She showed some of their stud cocks over the years and the birds that they have bred to build a new stud after the disaster.
