After lunch Janice Al-Nasser was the guest speaker and, with the aid of a power point presentation, she highlighted the problems associated with moving house and especially the birds. The problem that the partnership encountered while housing the birds over winter in the garage and the death of more than 100 of their best birds due to a virus. She talked about building the new birdroom and all the new equipment from breeding cages to small flights imported from Germany that they have inside the new birdroom. She showed some of their stud cocks over the years and the birds that they have bred to build a new stud after the disaster.

At the AGM, the Society Chairman, Ghalib Al-Nasser, congratulated all the winners, thanked members for bringing birds and highlighted the fact that three of their members have gained higher status in the fancy this year; referring to Bob Allen being inaugurated President of the Spangled Budgerigar Breeders’ Association, to Maurice Roberts stepping up to President Elect of The Budgerigar Society and to Janice for being awarded The Budgerigar Society’s Silver Bird. Janice, the Society’s President, presented the 2010 winners Ghalib & Janice Al-Nasser with their Silver (Any Age) Sovereign Salver and Bob Allen with the Gold (Young Bird) Sovereign Salver.

All officers remained the same at the AGM and were re-elected en-bloc as follows: Janice Al-Nasser, president; Cy Thorne, president elect; Ghalib Al-Nasser, chairman, acting secretary & publicity officer; Rod Clarke, vice chairman & joint patronage secretary with wife Sue; Bob Allen, membership secretary & editor; Janice Al-Nasser, treasurer; Cy Thorne, trophy steward; Sheila Cook, Gren & Pat Norris and David Rafis, committee members. The Society has its own website (www.rarebudgerigars.co.uk) to view.
